Pillars of Ginkgo

From homepage

Trauma informed and inclusive of everybody, exactly as you are, nothing to change, nothing to fix.

Embodiment asks us to be present within our body, mind and spirit. Engaging in the experience, feeling and action.

With a trauma informed approach we understand this isn’t available or safe to everyone in every moment and this is perfectly ok.

All our offerings are scaffolded and invitational. We support you to participate is a way that feels best for you.

You are your greatest guide.

Breathwork

Breathing is the only autonomic process our body does which we can consciously control. However, the majority of us are not breathing the way our bodies are designed to.

Yogic breathwork known as Pranayama, is where we consciously adjust the breath to improve our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Some benefits of breathwork are

  • increase energy and vitality

  • reduced stress and anxiety

  • Regulate the  nervous system

  • improve lung capacity

  • boosts immunity and digestion

  • improve rest and sleep

Natural Cycles

All our offerings are from a foundation of returning to the wisdom of nature and the natural cycles of the earth,

the day

the seasons

the moon and / or menstrual cycle

and the shortest cycle of them all, our breath.

Using the cycles to be present, ground and anchor as we come home to the greatest and most divine version of ourselves

Embodiment

Embodiment can look and feel like many different things. Our offerings are deeply focused on yogic breathwork with a variety of complementary practices including  somatics, dance, meditation, journaling, ritual, ceremony, Mantra and Mudra.

Accessible Embodiment Practices:

Embodied Social Change

As equity is integral to embodied social change we offer tiered pricing for as many of our offerings as possible. While the tiers are named Fully Waged, Part Waged and Unwaged this is merely a suggestion and we support you to select any option which best fits your situation. If you are called to these offerings and the investment is not financially  possible for you please do make contact with us as we have sponsorship programs which are available on some offerings.

The Roots

As a kid growing up, each member of my family had a tree in the back yard planted in their honour.

My dad’s tree was a Ginkgo. Beautiful and unlike any other in our garden. Slender, yet strong, smooth branches, slowly changing from velvet green leaves in spring to golden yellow in autumn, and then bare and naked in winter.

I loved this tree as a kid.

As an adult I grew to understand its wisdom, as I grew to understand my own.

I always have leaves from my dad's tree around me. Even now… a few in the car, many on my altar, as bookmarks, on my desk at work. They are never far away.

When my parents moved house, the 30 years old ginkgo made the move as well. Just a baby in ginkgo time, a mature tree can live to be thousands of years old. It adapted to its new home well, under the love and care of my father.

So this wise tree guide is still in my life, growing slowly with gentle wisdom.

In many religions the Ginkgo is an ancient symbol of physical and spiritual nourishment, transformation, liberation, union and fertility. In old folk stories it is said to be the home of spirits. In Japanese culture the leaves carry a meaning of courage, persistence and strength.

To me ginkgo represents strength, wisdom, my ancestry and blood lines, the seasons and above all connection to self, community and the earth.

And these velvety green leaves… are so soothing to the touch and to the soul!

Your facilitator

Hi there, I’m Jane. I am a daughter, sister, aunt and dog mumma. A yogini and tantrica. A fighter against fat phobia and body bullshit! I am a passionate sharer and a big believer in the power of listening.

For many years I have enjoyed yoga. But often found ‘yoga spaces’ didn’t welcome me in my wholeness. After learning from many amazing teachers, I have come to realise the spaces we create and hold, can and should be, more inclusive.

Scope of Embodiment Practice

My scopes of practice are Trauma Informed Facilitation and Embodied Social Change, Pranayama (Yogic Breathwork), Non Duel Tantric Philosophy, Somatics and Rest/ Sleep Science.

(Perhaps wouldn’t hurt to expand upon this for those that have no clue what these are….)

Forever the student, breathwork grounds and stabilises me in a way that no other embodied practices can. The first change I noticed when starting pranayama was the experience of my emotions becoming more spacious. I was able to have an awareness of them, rather than being controlled by them. This lead to a deeper and more harmonious relationship with myself, people, country and everything in my life.

I am passionate about creating space where we can sit alongside each other as we breath, move, meditate, dance and embody to liberate ourselves from negative beliefs and build trust that from a place of belonging and connection we can rest in the deep knowing that all we need to come home to our best and most divine selves resides within us.

I am happiest with a cup of tea sitting in nature.

“Would just like to express my thanks and appreciation to Jane. I suffer from quite chronic insomnia, and after a half hour session of guided breathwork, I found myself in a very relaxed, sleepy state. I have continued to practise this each night and find it settles my mind and  helps me to drift off. I thoroughly recommend to anyone who has any form of sleep issue to give a Breathwork session with Jane a try.
